Summary:
In evaluating a material used for making line or halftone negatives, the conditions for producing the best possible negatives are of prime interest. It is, moreover, very important to establish the range of conditions which will yield acceptable negatives. Methods are described for determining such properties as exposure and development latitudes, speed-development rate, and similar characteristics for high-contrast materials. Definitions of these properties based on trade practice are related to the experimental results.
