Testing an Economical Method of Eliminating Heatset Ink Smoke Pollution.

The paper investigates the problem faced by printers using heatset inks in meeting the clean air standards without unreasonable expense. The tests were designed to determine whether a special high efficiency electrostatic precipitator system could be developed to control ink smoke emissions. Aspects discussed include: air pollution legislation, methods of reducing heatset ink smoke pollution, physical characteristics of ink oil smoke, precipitation as an alternative solution, results of the tests and conclusions.
