Summary:

The Carlson Analyzer is an optical instrument employing the principle of interference magnification It provides a unique quality control concept which can be used to implement experienced judgment in maintaining dot fidelity for color uniformity and facsimile reproduction during press runs. Through interference magnification the instrument isolates the respective colors on a sheet printed with the four color process method it provides an integration of a relatively large and representative sample of dots as a single dot substantially enlarged for an effect of individual dot variation. Equally it provides performance evaluation beyond that possible with the conventional color bar that it provides a means of analyzing the actual transmission of ink from the dot structure of the plate to ultimate form on the printed sheet. This in the final analysis is the definitive control of quality printing.
