Summary:

Since transparencies can have different dye sets, it is shown that it is important for the film response in making the separations to relate closely to the visual response, otherwise metamerism can produce errors in the reproduction. Computer-designed direct screen and indirect processes are described in which the separation and mask filters were carefully selected to minimize differences in transparencies. The significance of the response of a duplicating film used in making duplicate transparencies from original transparencies is discussed and the need for scanners to have proper responses is emphasized.
