Summary:

One of the most exciting new technologies under development today is that of the optical videodisk, one of which stores FM-encoded television images, the other which stores binary-encoded digital computer data. Image videodisk is a storage-only device for television pictures. As such it offers exciting potential as a publishing medium. It could have long-term impact on the Graphic Arts industry in reducing the amount of printing of certain types of consumer magazines, technical documents and training/advertising materials. It will not have any short term effect on the kind, cost or quality of printing machinery available for solution of present production problems.
