Summary:
Production of uniform color in industry is beset with many difficulties, not the least of which is the control method employed. Visual examination by trained inspectors has been the time-honored method, but recently there has been considerable activity in the field of instrumentation for color control. It has therefore become most desirable to examine the minimum requirements of a color control instrument so that color control difficulties about which some experience has been gained over a period of years are not replaced by instrumental difficulties which may be equally offensive and not so well understood.
