Summary:

Recently there has been a great deal of interest expressed in chemically deposited copper as an image base. On zinc plates the copper has been deposited from an alcoholic cuprous chloride solution followed by the application of a vinyl lacquer. The logic of such a sequence is doubtful. A new method is suggested that involves the simultaneous deposition of copper and vinyl lacquer. Modifications in lacquer formulation are necessary to produce optimum results. Briefly, then, the paper describes some of the work done to effect an optimum formulation. Also, the practical ramifications of simultaneous deposition are discussed.
