Summary:

The goal of this project was to develop a new color model that would quantitatively specify a color in terms of tint combinations of single solid process colors. During 1979, a new three-color interimage reflectance model was developed. The model includes the interimage effects that occur between the overprinting of a single solid process colors and the substrate, such as trapping, additivity failure of the inks, light scatter, etc. In three trials where the three-color interimage reflectance model was used to predict the red, green and blue optical reflectance values of a printed three-color halftone wedge, results were encouraging.
