Tone Reproduction on the Press.

Present work on tone reproduction is concerned with the effects of ink transfer on the lithographic press. A problem which complicates this study is the difficulty in isolating for measurement each variable affecting ink transfer. A proposed method of measurement and some of the influencing factors are discussed. A summary is given which lists practical applications for the use of such measurements.
