True Rolling and Cylinder Packing.

About twenty years ago a study was made of the rolling action that exists at the contact zone between the plate and blanket surfaces of an offset printing press. Little has been written or said about the results of this study because it was considered a bit difficult for the non-technical person to understand. Due to current increased interest in this subject, the present paper was prepared to show in a simple, and not too rigorous a manner, the underlying principles of this rolling action, by means of a few simple illustrations, experiments and practical applications.
