A system for the standardization and simplification of the English language is described, which has been named Internashunel English. Vowel sounds were assigned to one vowel, or a combination of two letters. Choice of letters was obtained by a statistical analysis of 1800 common English words The new method of writing is largely, but not entirely, phonetic. It is computer compatible, and requires no more keystrokes than present English. Copy can be produced on any typewriter or keyboard perforator. Besides the standardization of tone values. Other changes are suggested that will simplify and standardize the language. These include making many irregular verbs and nouns regular. Advantages of the method are discussed, and answers given to certain criticisms of it.
