SGIA conference will challenge attendees’ business and leadership approaches.

Fairfax, Va. — The Specialty Graphic Imaging Association’s (SGIA) FP3: Functional Printing, Process & Products conference (Chicago area, May 5 - 7) will take a deep dive into technologies, trends and business approaches shaping functional printers with keynoters Dale Crownover, President and CEO, Texas Nameplate Company Inc. (TNC), and Colby B. Jubenville, Ph.D.

Crownover will open the conference with the unique story of TNC’s transition from mediocrity to becoming the first small business to receive two Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Awards (MBNQA). Attendees will learn how leadership, a strategic plan and culture are essential to success; how to align, balance and integrate processes and procedures systematically; and how growing better leads to growing bigger.

Founded by Crownover’s father, Roy, in 1946, TNC manufactures high-quality nameplates, identification tags and labels for products and equipment to educate and protect user safety. Its 40 employees serve a large and diverse customer base.

Crownover started with the business as a youth, doing everything from sweeping floors to production until he took on his current role in 1989. His visionary leadership and company’s commitment to excellence have earned both several accolades in addition to the MBNQA, which was established by the U.S. Congress in 1987 to recognize companies implementing successful quality management systems.

As he shares TNC's story, Crownover’s keynote will also offer insights into its journey to becoming an exemplary company with regard to the environment, green initiatives and triple bottom line.

“Pursuing excellence at TNC has never been considered an expense, but rather an investment for our future,” said Crownover. “Even if you don’t get there, there is a sense of fulfillment in this pursuit. The rewards in trying will outweigh the failures of winning at doing nothing.”

Crownover has also been recognized with induction into the Association for Manufacturing Excellence’s Hall of Fame, the Texas Association of Businesses and Chambers of Commerce’s Texas Business of the Year and Arthur Anderson’s Entrepreneur of the Year.

Jubenville, FP3’s closing keynoter, is an accomplished author, international speaker, professor, business advisor, entrepreneur and inventor. His books include “Me: How to Sell Who You Are, What You Do & Why You Matter to the World” and “Zebras & Cheetahs: Look Different and Stay Agile to Survive the Business Jungle.” He most recently spoke for SGIA audiences at the FP3 luncheon during the 2018 SGIA Expo.

Through the Coaching in the Moment Program, he consults and coaches medium and large companies as well as corporate clients throughout the United States, and his insights have been published in works such as the Washington Times and the Nashville Business Journal.

Additionally, he launched and serves as the Director of The Center for Student Coaching and Success and serves as lead consultant to the Brent Consulting Group, which specializes in helping people and organizations define an agreed-upon reality and future. He was selected by the Nashville Business Journal as a member of its Forty Under 40 class and has received the Nashville Emerging Leaders Impact Award, which honors a top city leader who has made a significant impact on young professionals.

Jubenville’s upcoming keynote “You Go First: Turning Learning into Action” centers around the idea that good leaders make good followers. He will challenge FP3 attendees to decide what they believe are the most impactful ideas, relationships and opportunities to capitalize on during their experience and take back to their team. Through thoughtful discussion, Jubenville will show companies how to take great ideas and turn them into action, build a team that embraces new ideas and change and move teams from “tasks” to “relationships” to get work done.
