I was told there are wetting agents in my ink. Do I still need to use an alcohol substitute in my fountain solution?

Yes. The wetting agents in inks do not replace the wetting agents in alcohol substitutes. Ink pigments do not disperse uniformly through the ink vehicle. To reduce the surface tension of the vehicle and help the vehicle penetrate the microscopic air spaces, the ink manufacturer adds a specific amount of wetting agent. If too much wetting agent is added, this could affect the water pickup, resulting in excessive emulsification of the ink.
