How to Use the New PRINTING United Alliance ECG ICC Profile
While it is often recommended to work in a native RGB color space within creative applications like Adobe Photoshop, there are instances when working in a CMYK or ECG color mode is necessary. This quick tutorial will describe how to in Adobe Photoshop, and how a multi-channel can be enabled once the profile is loaded.
Install the Color Profile
First, download the profile from iLEARNING+ and unzip the download.
Windows:
- Right click the profile and select Load Profile.
- Alternatively, you can navigate to Color Management within the Control Panel
- OR copy the profiles into the WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\color folder.
Mac:
- Copy the profile into the /Library/ColorSync/Profiles folder OR the /Users/[username]/Library/ColorSync/Profiles folder.
After installing the color profile, be sure to restart Adobe applications.
Convert to Multichannel
- In Photoshop you can now enable this profile, to do so:
Select Edit – Convert to Profile, - Click the Advanced button on the right, and once loaded, Multichannel profiles will be available, including the Alliance ECG.icc profile.
- Preview the effects of the conversion in the document by selecting the Preview check box in the Advanced window.
Device link profiles can also be enabled in a similar way from the Advanced Convert to Profile menu.
