Summary:

A new method for standardization and exposure of direct screen color separations has been developed at RIT. This new approach incorporates the flash exposure as an integral part of the main exposure thus eliminating the need for a separately controlled flash. A small lamp is mounted near the lens of the enlarger which is used to introduce a measured amount of flare. By controlling the illuminance ratio of each filtered image, the projected separation images and thus the final separations can be standardized regardless of copy density range or flare that may have been induced by the subject. Some special equipment has been developed for this method of exposing direct screen separations.
