Summary:
This report summarizes results of PRINTING United Alliance state of the industry surveys conducted during the fourth calendar quarter of 2024. A total of 294 companies from across the printing industry participated in at least one of the surveys. Participants have annual sales ranging from less than $1 million to more than $300 million. The majority define themselves as commercial printers, apparel decorators, or graphic and sign (wide-format) printers. Representative of the printing industry at large, most have diversified beyond their primary printing business.
The report opens with an overview of how sales, cost inflation, prices, profitability, and employment trended during the first three quarters of 2024 for companies surveyed. Their biggest concerns heading into 2025, business priorities for the year, capital investment plans, where they would most like to improve productivity, and their use of dashboards and cloud services follow. The report concludes with must-do's, or actions printing companies of any type or size can take to build competitive advantage. Must-do's include calculating customer effort scores and following an all-systems-go readiness checklist.
