A Relatively Simple Method for Calculating the Dynamic Behavior of Inking Systems

A method, using a common spreadsheet program, is described for calculating the dynamic behavior of inking systems during quasi steady state and in response to changes in ink feed over time. The model used can account for changes in plate coverage in the direction around-the-cylinder, but not across-the-cylinder. Comparisons with experimental results demonstrate the validity of the method and examples are presented to illustrate its capabilities.
